The UConnect 4C Navigation in 2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk with only 23,888 miles is delaminating and stopped connecting to satellite. The gps has me in the wrong location all the time, which renders the navigation feature as unusable. The service dept at the dealership diagnosed the issue as an internal failure of the radio and the fix is to replace the UConnect system.
My Mopar Extended Warranty specifically lists that factory installed UConnect Systems are covered under my plan in the Expanded Electrical Covered Services section. However, it was pointed out to me by the warranty servicer that also listed in the Terms and Conditions towards the end of the contract are 36 services/items that will not be covered. Anything involving or affecting the use or operation of, access to, or the processing of any computer, hardware, software, data, information technology and communications system, electrical device... is not covered. The Mopar Warranty servicer denied my claim because they deemed the failure to be a computing issue. Out of pocket cost to replace will be close to $2,000.
Unfortunately, this is not the only issue I'm having with my 2018 Compass. It's quite concerning to have a significant electrical component fail on my very low mileage car so soon. I know I'm not alone with this issue as Google search shows the UConnect 4C Navigation unit is known to delaminate and stop connecting to satellite and that the only fix is a replacement. Which is fine, I guess, if your Mopar warranty actually covers the replacement cost.
