FOLLOWING A TRIP TO MY SON'S VIOLIN LESSONS IN THE SPRING, HE PUT THE REAR WINDOWS DOWN. I WAS UNABLE TO GET ONE TO RAISE USING THE DRIVERSIDE POWER UP BUTTON. I WAS ABLE TO USING THE BACK WINDOW BUTTON, AND AFTER RAISING IT THAT WAY THE FRONT BUTTON AGAIN WORKED. MADE A MENTAL NOTE, BUT HAD NO OTHER ISSUE WITH IT.

JULY 26, 2017 I GO OUT TO START MY JEEP TO GO TO HOME DEPOT, UNLOCK THE VEHICLE NO PROBLEM...PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION...TURN IT...LIGHTS ON THE DASH COME ON...RADIO COMES ON...NO POWER WHEN THE KEY IS TURNED. NO NOISE...NO CLICK...NADA. CHECKED MY BATTERY CONNECTION TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO CORROSION ON MY CABLES, ETC...ALL LOOKED GOOD. CALLED ROAD SIDE ASSIST TO HAVE THEM COME JUMP ME OFF, THINKING IT WAS JUST A LOW BATTERY. THEY COULD NOT START MY JEEP WITH THEIR BATTERY BOX. AWESOME. CALLED A FRIEND AND HAD THEM STOP OVER WITH SOME JUMPER CABLES. INITIALLY IT DIDN'T START...BUT ON THE SECOND OR THIRD TRY THE JEEP TURNED OVER AND RAN JUST FINE. I WENT TO THE LOCAL ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND HAD THEM RUN A QUICK CHECK ON THE BATTERY/ALTERNATOR/STARTER AND EVERYTHING CAME BACK JUST FINE. CALLED AND ASKED IF THE DEALERSHIP COULD CHECK IT OUT AND AFTER A DROP OFF THAT DAY, REQUIRING ME TO PAY FOR A RENTAL FROM THEM....THEY ALSO RAN DIAGNOSITICS SHOWING THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE WAS BAD AND NEEDED REPLACING. THE PART HAD TO BE ORDERED AND OVERNIGHTED FROM BOSTON. $655 AND CHANGE FOR THE PART, PLUS $40 A DAY FOR A RENTAL....(I ONLY COULD AFFORD ONE DAY SO I HAD TO RETURN THE RENTAL EVEN THOUGH THE REPAIR ENDED UP KEEPING THE JEEP IN THE SHOP FOR 3 DAYS) AND $220 AND SOME CHANGE FOR LABOR. WHICH MIGHT NOT BE A BIG DEAL. EXCEPT, MY CAR HAD LESS THAN 30K MILES. YEAH...

IT'S RIGHT OUT OF THE DAMN REGULAR WARRANTY...SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN THE SPRING 2014...AND I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS WELL. SURPRISE. THIS PART ISN'T COVERED BY THAT EX-WARRANTY. SO WE WERE HOME WITH SAID VEHICLE FOLLOWING PAYING THROUGH THE NOSE FOR PARTS AND LABOR...FOR ABOUT SIX DAYS...AND OUT OF THE BLUE THE HORN HONKS FOR NO REASON. NOT SURPRISINGLY, SOME QUESTIONED IF I INADVERTENTLY HIT THE BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB. (I DID NOT). OK. LETS WAIT AND SEE. TONIGHT 8/8/2017 1800 GO OUT TO MY VEHICLE TO GO TO WORK TO SAVE LIVES....AND WOW....THE DAMN THING WON'T START. ONE CRANK...NOTHING. CRANK TWO...NOTHING....THIRD TRY IT STARTED. UNFORTUNATELY, THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT CLOSES AT 1800 AND I'M WORKING THE OVERNIGHT 12 HOURS....SO I'LL HAVE TO CALL THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I GET OFF TOMORROW MORNING. I FEEL FAIRLY CERTAIN IT IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT WAS NOT RESOLVED. UNFORTUNATELY I HAVE TO HAVE A VEHICLE TO GET MY CHILD FROM THE AIRPORT THURSDAY MORNING AND THIS REALLY HAS ME IN A PINCH. I CANNOT BELIEVE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL.
