electronic throttle control faulty

A few day’s ago while driving on the interstate, my 2014 Jeep Compass lost power as I was doing 70 mph. I was only able to drive 20 miles per hour driving on the shoulder of the road.

electronic throttle control faulty

The Electronic Throttle Control Light, Electronic Stability Control Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light and Malfunction Indicator Light are all on. These lights prevent the car from accelerating and keep the air from cooling. The car will only increase to 45 MPh and vibrates with great force.

I have a Jeep Wrangler 2000 manual shift (93,000 miles) and all the original equipment on this car, no electronics other than lights, radio, ignition and never had a problem like this. The old saying as a systems analyst we lived by was, keep it simple. All this electronic crap on the car causes more maintenance problems. It is what is causing the large jump in automobile costs. Adding all these electronic gadgets cause complexity and a lot more problem solving to what Henry Ford wanted to be simple and easily fixed. Unless Jeep wants to absorb these repair cost to perfect this silly addition to the throttle, a manual throttle should be used. After several years now of this part being on their vehicles, there are still problems and the electronic throttle control should be repaired outside of any warranty.
