I had to replace the lower control arms on my 2010 Jeep Compass AGAIN! Last time was in 2018. I had to replace the ball joints in the front end around that time too.
What a cheaply built unit. axle seals done 3 times(700bucks per). tie rods had to be replaced 2 times. new ball joints and rear struts. all before 60,000 miles
Very frequent thumping noise when going over even little bumps in the road. Dealership determined that outer tie rod ends needed to be replaced. I was told that this is a very common problem with the Compass.

I bought this car used two weeks ago. Whenever I brake it makes a knocking sound in the front of the car. Also, when I go over bumps I hear this clunking. I took it back to the dealership and asked them to check it. My mechanic thought it was the wheel bearings. They told me there was "excessive cupping" and put a new set of tires on it. They assured me they checked the car thoroughly and there was nothing wrong. While the sound does not effect the way the car handles (yet), it is kind of unsettling because it is definitely not a normal sound and I'm just waiting for something to go wrong.. Hopefully it won't. Other than the strange sounds, I am a happy customer and have no complaints.
