I have had to replace the control arms/trailing arms/bushings every year since my car went over 100,000 kms and replace the tires because the don't wear evenly due to the arm problem. I've heard a lot of complaints about this and was told the design changed in 2009. Thanks Jeep!
This is a on going problem with the tie rod ends. Have had it repaired 4 times, finally have parts that are guaranteed but still have to pay over a hundred dollars for labor!!
I also have to replace an outer tie arm. I have seen others having problems and am wondering what I am in store for? I noticed back in 2012 my left front tire was wearing on the inside. I had the alignment done and thought that was it. It came back again in 2013 so again I had it aligned. 2014 I had the shop look into why that tire and almost all the time. They inspected and found worn tie rods.
I took the car in for servicing before a trip (fluid levels, oil, filter etc). The mechanic advised me that the lower control arms were worn & that the vehicle would be a danger to drive. He said that he could order the parts & repair it the following day & it would take approx 4 hrs. Repair done.
I'm expecting something else to fail on this unit judging from its history...
I had a noise while driving and noticed my front passenger tire was wearing in the middle. I took it in to get looked at and found out ball joints, tie rods, shock absorbers, tires and of course and alignment all needed to be done.
Yes- this is a very reputable automotive place, but I was shocked to say the least! I have a 2008 Compass with 35,000(bought used with 17,000 miles on it nearly 2 years ago) and BAM a whole lot of stuff going on! HUGELY disappointed in this vehicle!
We will never purchase another Jeep Compass and would never recommend one to anyone else. We've had 3 tie rods and 2 lower control arms replaced at a considerable cost. We are mature people and never abuse our vehicles in any way so we are totally disgusted with this vehicle.
I bought my 1st Jeep 2008 brand new, I have now had to replace 2 tie rods, bearings, ball joints and now a front hub. The car is paid for I wish I could dump it, I am single and didn't need this. I just spent 700.00 in the last month on the front end.
