I pulled into shopping center and parked. I was sitting there for a few minutes with the car running, when I heard what sounded like a humming/ really muffled tune. I opened the door got out and bent down into the car and could tell it was coming from under the hood behind the steering wheel. I got back in the car and then noticed that the interior light weren't on but the door was open. Every light on the instrument panel lit up and the air started getting warmer.
I turned the car off and pulled out the owners manual to look for the fuse panel. That is where the noise had been coming from. I decided to go inside the shopping center to look for fuses just in case. I then tried to lock the door with my key fob, headlights flashed but nothing happened. Opened the door pushed the lock button nothing happened. I then changed my mind about going in. I got in started the engine, no lights or anything lit up except the headlights automatically came on and the clock on the radio. Windows worked, blower for air worked/ but not cold. pushed lock button and nothing. Reached to pull the gear shift and it would go out of park. The car is still running, but most of the electronics were out including the ability to put the car into gear. I turned the car back off, got out manually pushed every lock down. Went inside got a fuse kit with a tester.
Came back out and opened the hood and the fuse panel. Checked every fuse and they were all working fine. I sat there for three hours, when all of a sudden the interior overhead light came on. I started the car, put in in reverse and pulled out. None of the other stuff was working still. I got home and went to googling.
This is APPARENTLY A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF THIS VEHICLE MAKERS MODELS. I'm lucky because there have been reports of the car just going out while driving. The lights flashing, windshield wipers coming on, horn blowing, lights going out, locks and security system quitting all because of this TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULATOR. Its a dangerous problem that has happened to thousands of models. I haven't had it checked yet , but there was a complete NATIONAL BACK ORDER OF THIS PART, because so many were bad. The average price I saw for fixing it was $1100.00.
I am making an appointment to have this checked. I don't know how much its going to cost or how long it will take to have fixed. This part is literally the brain of the vehicle that tells everything what to do and sends power to all areas of the vehicle. Transmission controls, security systems, door locks, lights, ac/ windows. And if it doesn't send the proper signals things go wrong or automatically stop working. You can not use the vehicle if its got BRAIN DAMAGE.
