The contact owns a 2007 Jeep Compass. While the vehicle was undergoing a routine oil change by an independent mechanic, the mechanic noticed that the crossmember K frame was corroded under the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.
Upon an inspection of the underneath of my 2007 Jeep Compass, it was found that my front sub frame (also known as the K frame) has serious rust issues. There is actually a section on the back side of the sub frame that has rusted out (approx. 1/2 inch by 4 inch in size). After some investigating issues with this vehicle on the internet, I found that this a common problem with this vehicle and that Jeep has not recalled this issue. I will be replacing the part because this is a major safety issue with this vehicle.
