I purchased the 2008 Jeep Commander new. I had an auto accident after a few months of ownership. The 2008 Jeep stalled and then shut off and a man ran into the back of me. At that time I had no clue as to what and why this had happened. I took it to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong with the engine.

I have driven the vehicle for years with no apparent engine problems. When it would ride sluggish or stall the dealer or mechanics would clean the throttle or change the spark plugs. Now however, the problem has started again and the Jeep turns off at speeds of 45-55 Mph. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the ignition with a recall order and stated that would fix the problem. I drove it home and once again it stopped on the highway at speeds of 55mph. NO brakes, no power steering. Stay tuned it is at the dealer now.

Contacted Chrysler Canada (Ref #: 26955216 and 26968937) after dealership appointment. Dealership recommend service: NEED WCN FOR STALLING $210 + $489. this does not include the $158.20 for the diagnoses.(document #. RC91265). Parts ordered three days ago...now waiting.

Update from May 20, 2015: I have to give Chrysler Canada a round of applause, Problem fixed, Chrysler replaced the WIN Module with the newer model and performed P73 recall. My 2008 Jeep command runs better when first purchased. everything covered under warranty.

THIS IS A REPEAT PROBLEM

problem still not solved i keep bringing into the dealership. It has been towed, driven, etc. Data recorder.

New ignition installed, new wires installed, relay switch installed now they want to try to replace the fuel pump. They are just guessing they have no solution to this problem.

Time to go drive my death trap....doesn't start sometimes, and they can't figure that out...TODAY, while I was sitting in traffic on 95 my jeep just accelerated out of no where; and I had to slam on the brake and skid off the highway to avoid hitting another vehicle. Now i have no headlights, and no turn signals. No digital speedometer, thankfully, cars still have the traditional speedometer. Lets see what happens this time around. Your right Route 1 Jeep there is nothing wrong with my vehicle and its safe to drive...maybe Chrysler will get there act together and learn from GM! Reading me instructions on how to pull my car off the road in case of engine shut down is UNACCEPTABLE! How do i handle the sudden acceleration and lack of blinkers and lights?

Commander Limited 5.7L Hemi

My wife & I bought our 08 Jeep Commander Limited Used in September 2013 with 63,000 miles on it and have really enjoyed driving it. Now, a year later and roughly 7,000 miles, as my wife was driving to work with out warning, no lights or noises the engine shut off. My wife explained that she was driving about 45mph and started up a hill and the engine feels as if its in fuel saver mode but won't accelerate then the engine shuts off. I did some research and it seems this is a common problem. One of the recalls #H03 seemed to be the answer so I called our local jeep dealership service dept. to inquire into any possible recall work needed and was first told someone would have to call me back about any possible recall. After waiting a week and a half, there was no return call. Well, just yesterday the same exact thing happened again only on a busy highway. So I called the dealership service Dept. again and was given the same " someone will have to call you back" statements, so I decided to call Chrysler direct and inquired into recall #H03 and was told that recall only affected 08 Commanders with MFG Dates from 08/2007 to 11/2007, not sure if these dates are exact but they are close, and since our 08 Commander had a MFG Date of 02/2008 it was not part of that recall and any repairs would be up to us and if in the future there was a recall that at that time there would be some kind of possible reimbursement for repairs. Now, after that conversation I had waited about 4 hours and I contacted our local dealership again and spoke with a service writer and he explained the our problem would end up with a recall due to the ignition switch, "BUT" he didn't have any idea when that would be due to the parts required to repair were not available and he had no idea when they would be available. He further stated that I could call Chrysler and they would tell me the same thing that parts for the repair of the defect were not available at this time. So now we have a vehicle we love but are afraid to drive and still making payments on. Seems Jeep would, with all these complaints of similar problems, want to handle them in a more timely manner. I hate to see Jeep/Chrysler's reputation tarnished by all these problems. Any help out there.

For no apparent reason the car stopped while driving-----no warning, no check engine lights, nothing. Did this twice in the past year----but thought extra keys on chain may have bumped the key/fob in ignition. First two times were on the road........once driving on a subdivision street the other on a five lane high traffic road----that was approximately one year ago----when the car was purchased used (mileage 70k) at a highly reputable dealership.

This time a young driver was at the wheel and thank GOD that it happened in a parking lot.....she thought it was out of gas. After my husband put gas in it started immediately, he went to fill it with more than the measly 5 gallons he just put in and it would only take $10. There was gas in the vehicle after all, just as my daughter thought-- since she checked the gauges on the dashboard before she left the driveway. There was not any indication that the vehicle had a problem or was running differently. THE VEHICLE JUST STOPPED RUNNING --------- WHILE DRIVING ----again!!!!!!!---------after months (almost 1 year) of doing the very same thing. I am waiting for an appointment with the dealership.
