We purchased a 2007 Jeep Commander on Feb.10. It has 2,000 miles on it. Last week, the engine "threw a rod" through the side of the engine requiring a new engine to be installed. It was the result of road rainwater being taken into the engine through the air intake. I am having to file a claim with my insurance company to replace the engine. The water on ther road was minimal. I continue to see Jeep advertisements on television showing the Jeep Commander driving thru water... the consumer needs to be aware that the vehicle cannot be driven thru water...
