My third new Jeep. Never a problem until now.
First three months and 2,500 miles; car ran great. At 2500 miles, transmission started showing signs of improper down shifting when accelerating to merge on freeway. Problem extended to delay downshifting when turning corner at 15-20 mph and trying to accelerate 30.
Impossible to rely on acceleration for passing as transmission requires 3-4 seconds pissing around, before deciding to down shift.
Returned car to dealership for repair. After two weeks, they returned to me; computer says nothing wrong so we can't fix. Chrysler/Jeep engineers can't figure out - I was told to drive for 5,000 miles and maybe things get better. Or drive to Florida and hope it breaks down so we can fix.
Car is now at second dealership for their opinion.
Dealerships hate the nine speed transmission and complain their hands are tied when it comes to repairs under warranty as Chrysler/Jeep is very reluctant to admit to or release permission to repair or replace.
With all the problems I'm having in my first 2500 miles and now that I investigate the web and find the problems C/J has been having for six years with 9 speed transmission; why are they persisting in making and selling a faulty product?
Why would my local dealership and neighbor knowingly sell me a product that is so likely to give the owner countless problems and eventually many hours and dollars to repair?
Update from Dec 5, 2021: After five or six weeks of complaining and returning car to dealership, I went to another dealership. They analyzed a problem within half a block test drive and replaced the transmission within two weeks.
