The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at various speeds and stopping at traffic lights, the vehicle lost motive power and started to reverse unintendedly. The vehicle was restarted each time. Additionally, on several occasions, while driving at various speeds the vehicle downshifted inadvertently. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and restarted. The contact stated that the Auto START/STOP warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed and determined that the transmission control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
