CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2019 Cherokee is racking up engine complaints for suddenly shutting down while driving. But the problem could possibly be related to the increasingly defective 9-speed transmission which suffers from hard shifts, lurching problems, and a wiring harness defect that can cause sudden shutdowns or an unexpected shift into neutral.
Shortly after I drove out from San Antonio to Tucson, AZ to visit parents. Along the I-10 speed limit is 80mph. The hood would flutter, vibrate and jump around whenever I exceeded 67mph. When I returned to San Antonio I took it dealer. They adjusted hood. On 12/8/2020 I went to visit family again in Tucson, AZ. Same hood flutter. When my vehicle passed 67mph the hood would start to flutter up and down. Nothing had changed.
When I return to San Antonio I took it to the dealer for hood adjustment. Hood latch was replaced and hood adjusted. I made another trip to Tucson during May 2021. As soon as I hit 70mph the hood started to flutter again. Also, it would flutter whenever I passed a big rig on the highway. The flutter seemed more severe. During one flutter incident the Start/Stop light illuminated in the center of display.
Couldn't get the light to turnoff until I pulled over, shout off vehicle. Upon restart the Start/Stop light shut off. Took it back to dealer for warranty for the 3rd time. Dealer stated that they pulled codes indicating problem with latch. Part ordered. New hood latch to be installed on 6/2/2021. I'll update should hood flutter surface again.
