Bought my 2018 Jeep Cherokee in September in 2017 right off the truck delivered to the dealership, so maybe 3 miles on it after they got it off the truck and ready for me. My Jeep now has 78,000 miles (probably had 77,000 when this first occurred) and the Service 4WD light came on. Sometimes the light stays on and sometimes it comes on and off while driving. I brought my car to the dealership for a different issue and asked them to look at this also.
1. I don't believe it should cost $170 just to check a service light. 2. recommended repair is to replace power transfer unit, the estimate is $2800 plus tax for parts and labor.
I called FCA to see if there is any assistance they can give me, the person I spoke with said I would not be eligible because of the mileage of my car. Further investigation I have found this to be a known issue with 2017-2014 Jeep Cherokees and probably also includes my car since it is a very early 2018 model and probably built with the same parts. I am really disappointed in Jeep and there not being anything to do besides the recommended repair that will hopefully fix the problem.
