The contact contacted an independent mechanic who informed her husband how to release the parking brake. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic where it was diagnosed that the failure was due to water damage. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not covered under recall for the failure. The contact stated that approximately 10 days later the failure reoccurred. The vehicle was returned to the independent mechanic who confirmed that there was water corrosion causing the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.
