I was driving and the following happened: Jeep completely died while driving, battery light illuminated & the screen displayed "place in P, then select gear", I attempted it but I had no power, no ability to steer or brake. I was also broken down in on coming traffic and wasn't able to move. I had to put in neutral and push my Jeep out of the middle of the hwy. I'm 26 and 5'4. I'm scared for my life. I cried all the way to work. All I could see was getting impaled by a driver, getting killed and risking losing my 2 year old son! I'm not happy, I'm scared for my life and I have no idea what to do or where to turn! the dealership isn't answering my calls or responding to any messages! consumer stated problem was caused by piston rings were faulty.

Vehicle has just shut off approx 10 times in the last 2 weeks. Sometimes its 'dings' while driving normal and does not stall but most of the time its stalls as driving. Either ive just pulled out onto a road or made a turn. The car will just shut off and says to put in correct gear. The car will not turn over and restart for approx 10 minutes. Very very dangerous!!!!!

I was taking my car out of park when I noticed a really loud clicking noise coming from the shifter. I took it back to the dealership and I was told that the shifter would be replaced. When I picked my truck up the noise was even louder, and this time I had an error message on my dash board that read "service shifter". at that time the dealership had already replaced the shifter. After they ran more test and attempted to fix it a total of 10 times, I am still having the same issue, where the error message says "service shifter" and the clicking sound is very loud. After speaking with the service manager at the dealership, he informed me that the shifter was just recently replaced once again and that the other attempts to replace the shifter were a result of the replacement shifters being "bad' (defected). Chrysler customer service has been notified of every occasion that my vehicle has been serviced for this issue, and they have even escalated this matter to their corporate level technicians known as "star". I was told by customer service that star was unsure of the issue upon them being contacted in reference to this issue. I have yet to see an active recall on this part, but out of the year and 8 months that I have owned this truck, I have spent approximately a year and 4 months taking it to the dealership to be serviced for the shifter.

When I got in my car yesterday morning, my drivers seat was all the way back. I am the only one who drives it - it was odd that it was moved. Nevertheless, I needed it to go back into position so I could drive it. The controls weren't really working so it took a bit to get it to move forward. I noted it to mention to the dealer when I take it in for an oil change this weekend. I drove to work, uneventfully. As I left work, and got into my Jeep, the seat was fine. Yay! I headed home. I was pouring rain. As I took a right, heard the car go "ding" saw the battery light come on and then the Jeep turned off. I was driving and my car just turned off. This is the second time it has happened to me. The last time was January 2018 as I was entering I95. I turned left and heard the "ding" and off the Jeep went. I had to coast to the side of the road. Dangerous! I got towed to the local Jeep dealer by aaa and left the car for diagnostic testing. The results, according to the dealer, was that my oil was low. The Cherokee turns off the car to preserve the engine. Even if you are driving the car on the highway. Just. Turns. Off. First of all, that should not happen no matter what. The human in the car is what should be preserved, not the car itself. No car should ever just turn off. Second of all, there was no indication on the dash or on the uconnect app that I was low on oil. And secondly, I was only a 300 miles over the mileage on the oil sticker on my windshield. I have had a lot of cars in my life and even the really old cars would indicate if the oil was low. This is a brand new car. Why would I think the dealership would put mileage on the oil change sticker that was wrong" why would I even think that I would need to check my oil levels on a new car? and one more thing - Jeep are built tough. So why would the engine be that sensitive" so angry.

My 2017 Jeep wouldn't start on September 22,23 2018 while parked in driveway. It made a sound like the battery was dead and didn't have enough juice to start. After attempting to start multiple times and trying to turn off radio and headlight. It finally turned over, but after returning home from running errands, the following morning on the 23rd it wouldn't not start until I received a jump. There was a P code on the dashboard of car. Ive also experience issue with it not wanting to excellerate even with excessive amount of pressure to the gas peddle.

I purchased this vehicle in June of 2017. The service shifter error began popping up in November or December of the same year. It resets once the car is turned off and then restarted. I am currently approaching 20,000 miles and it seems with every new mile accrued that the light is coming on more often. After reading several online forums regarding this issue I realized that I am not alone. One persons account mentioned that their car was going 70 miles an hour when suddenly the car switched to park, causing a major accident and injury. This is very disturbing to me. Although my car hasn't shifted while the code is on yet. I am worried that me or a loved one (or a stranger for that matter) will end up being hurt or in a serious accident.

While I was driving yesterday, my car died out on me. The car is only 6 months old. I was driving when the battery light began to flash and the car shut off on me. I had electrical power as the sterio was working, but the engine and power steering shut off without a check engine light. I was luckily able to coast into a parking lot and put the car in park. I 'shut it off' pulled the key fob from the ignition and tried to restart it. It had difficulty turning over and about after 39 seconds it turned over and started. Then everything was normal. The car died out on me while going 45 miles per hour on a very busy street and I could barely turn the wheel to get into a parking lot. After this happened the car went back to normal and no warnings were displayed. I went to my uconnect app and it did not register the issue or say there was any issues on the car. If this happens on an expressway this can be deadly and it jeeds to be addressed!

Car was purchased in April 2017. Twice the vehicle wouldn't start for no apparent reason. The car is parked on the street and wouldn't start early morning on a Saturday and again late afternoon on this past Tuesday. Both occasions, I tried using the fob to unlock and perform a remote start, vehicle would not turn on. Eventually, the car did start, but the reason is still undetermined

My 2017 Jeep Cherokee. Message came up saying "service shifter" while driving down the interstate and I was not shifting at the time, light stayed on all the way home. Took it to nearest dealership. They diagnosed it as needing part 6md111X9aa or new part number 6md111X9ab. Which is the shift control module. To start with they told me they ordered the part and it would be ready in a few days. Then they told me I was number 70 on the list waiting for the part, it would not be available until March 2018. To come pick it up it is safe to drive. Jeep's 800 number has not verified safety yet. The information I can find questions it's safety, it sends all control signals to engine to shift and park.. it's been a week already with refusal to provide loaner vehicle. Jeep consultant is supposedly escalating case. I also had some kind of transmission recall serviced the prior week, but was told that recall was not related to this issue. I have not picked it up from dealership, I am waiting for them to put safety guarantee in writing.
