Oil filter housing is cracked and it is leaking oil badly. Had extended warranty with dealer but of course, since this part is external to the motor, it is NOT covered. Buckeye Nissan warranty isn't worth the paper they print it on. Unless your block randomly cracked thru no fault of your own, nothing is covered even though the warranty states "engine" as covered. It doesn't cover ANY part attached to the engine, which is a LOT of parts not covered. Crappy to find that out 2 years later and $1000 later. Fraud for a salesperson to sell you that and NOT tell you about ALL of the fine print.

Chrysler KNOWS this is a problem yet does nothing to solve it except hang people out to dry. They use a plastic housing next to a very hot engine block, what did they think would happen? Yet they, including Buckeye Nissan in Hilliard, Ohio, and Protective Asset Protection in St. Louis, all claim this is not covered under any warranty. I am currently waiting for someone from Jeep to call me but I am not expecting a miracle.

Vehicle has had an oil leak since I bought it. Multiple dealerships have been unable to correctly diagnose/solve the problem.

~18k miles - told there was a leak from a cracked head gasket by the non-dealership shop I took it to for state inspection. Took it back to the dealer where I purchased it - they said they didn't see anything, vehicle was fine.

~30k miles - white smoke coming from the hood and smelled strongly of burning oil - took it to the dealership where they told me I'd 'hit a puddle' (it was raining) and what I'd seen was steam. They were wrong.

~50k miles - Took it to a different dealership for a routine oil change. They told me it had an oil leak and they needed to replace the oil cooler. Replaced the oil cooler.

~51K miles - White smoke from tailpipes, strong smell of burning oil. Dealership looked at it and said they 'couldn't replicate the issue'.

~54k miles - husband pulled the front tires to replace the rotors and pads (totally separate issue that they'd BOTH gone bad by 54k) found oil all over the frame. Called the dealership (Jim Shorkey in North Huntington PA) where they refused to provide a loaner vehicle until I spent another day there waiting while they diagnosed it (even though a loaner or rental reimbursement is part of the extended warranty I paid for). Pass.

~55k miles - took it to a different dealership where I was told there was 'oil everywhere', that there was so much oil they 'had a hard time figuring out where it was coming from', and that the vehicle was dangerous to drive in that condition. They think it's the timing cover, but they can't be sure until they tear the whole thing apart.

If I hadn't purchased the separate Mopar Max Care warranty, I'd be out $800 for the oil cooler and over $1000 for the timing cover. Not advocating for the warranty (they're usually scams...) just trying to put perspective on how expensive a factory defect (in something) is turning out to be.
