The contact owns a 2016 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal oil odor inside the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the oil filter housing was cracked and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
