Bought a 2015 Jeep Cherokee new with drive train warranty. It starts shaking and lost power when on highway. Had it towed to our usual Jeep dealer. Told valve spring on 5th cylinder cracked. Valve fell into cylinder and may have damaged piston. They want to fix spring (over $1200) and then do compression test to see how much damage done. Likely need new engine. Vehicle is 2 years old with 130,000 km.
Been in touch with Bolton Jeep and FCA. 2 weeks later...they offer 'good will gesture' to pay for 1/2 of car rental and $1000 of repair. When I go to accept offer, they rescind offer and ask that I have car towed away. I suspect its because I bring up that if compression test fails and there is further damage, that they fix problem at no further charge to me. Obviously they know there will be more to the story and want to wash their hands of it. We have 2 other vehicles and have bought many used and some new vehicles in past. It's not usual for us to drive vehicle well over 250,000 km with only regular/minor repairs. Will never, ever buy a Chrysler product again. Useless engineering!
