The mechanic could not diagnose the failure and had to tow the vehicle to another independent mechanic who was also unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and acknowledged that the failure was a known issue; however, there were no recalls on the VIN. Upon investigation, the contact linked her failure to a defective PCM (Powertrain Control Module). The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 88,000.
