After several days of light to heavy rain, my front and back driver side floor was STANDING in water. Called the local dealer who couldn't get to it until 12/19/16, I dropped my car off for repair and they gave me a loaner with a full 8.5 X 11 page of rules. Today, 12/21/16, I received a phone call stating they found the leak and are working to fix it....DRAIN TUBES that run through every quarter of the car??? Left side had more insulation than it should have which caused it to back up into my floors and the only way they found it was by parking my car with the rear at a higher level than the front, my car stays parked on level ground and I've never heard of drain tubes...Can i tell you, it's a VERY MISERABLE ride when your floor mats are frozen under your feet in a vehicle with less than 23,000 miles on it, I considered trading it in and owe a heck of a lot more than what it's worth...so, I'm SCREWED!!

Purchased my vehicle the last week of August 2015. Had less than 15 miles on it. We've had quite a bit of rain off and on over the last few months. There was one bad storm that I got caught in. I didn't notice any water coming in through the bottom of the door. Nov 27th, I noticed that my floor was wet on the Driver's side, front and back. I called the Dealership, they gave me an appointment for the next morning 8:00. (Nov 28th) Went in, they said they sprayed it with water, couldn't see where the water was going inside. Asked when could I bring it back so they could remove the mats and do a more thorough check. Went back on Monday Nov 30th. Vehicle was in the shop from 8:15 until 4:00, which is when I called them to get a status as to what was going on. Got someone on the phone about 4:35, he told me they couldn't see anywhere, the water could have gotten inside, maybe it came over the door if I went through some water. Needless to say that's not good either. I was told they are going to put my vehicle back together and I could pick it up tomorrow. Dec1st. Still not knowing why only the Drivers side front and back was wet.

Just bought this jeep Cherokee (2015)- it had 17 miles on it. I didn't buy a used car because I didn't want to deal with taking it to the shop to be fixed all the time. I first noticed this issue at about 620 miles.

I have dog. She goes everywhere with me and sheds a lot. So while I was vacuuming out the jeep and thought I'd check out the spare tire, you know, to be prepared. If I needed to use it, I wanted to be familiar with how to access it (former Toyota truck owner so it was a thing).

I lift the cargo cover, remove the 'tray' and lo and behold! It was soaking wet and there was standing water. I think I'd opened the lift gate to access the cargo area 2 times, maybe 3, before this. Never looked below though.

620-ish miles: I call the dealer that same day. They couldn't fit me in for another week.

720-ish miles: I take it in to the nearest dealer 1-1/2 hour drive away. Wait an 60-90 minutes or so. They couldn't figure out how the water was getting in, but confirmed that it was. So I had to make another appointment because they didn't have a loaner available for me that day.

Next time they would have a loaner available: 3 weeks.

960 miles: 3 weeks later I brought it back in. It is there right now, as I am typing this. I just called them and they still can't figure out how the water is getting in so they've contacted Jeep for help and are waiting. Me too.

This is probably happening to a lot more 2014-15 Jeep Cherokee owners but they don't know it yet. Nobody looks in the spare tire storage until they need the spare tire. Or your car starts smelling like mold. Or starts rusting from the inside out.

It's my understanding that some models have leakage in the cargo area and have been recalled because they have electrical running through there and can catch on fire. I don't own one of those models. The water is still leaking in though.

On March 2, 2015, I purchased a new 2015 Jeep Cherokee Limited from Dulles Motorcars in Leesburg, Virginia. When I got home, I swapped out the cheap Jeep floor mats with all-weather mats. I discovered that the carpeting under the driver's side floor mat was soaking wet.

On Wednesday, March 4, 2015, I dropped off the car for repair. The water specialist found that one of the sunroof drain tubes was crimped. He fixed the crimp, did a water test, and claimed the vehicle was repaired.

We had sleet and snow in No. Va, and as it melted I discovered that water was still getting into the vehicle, although in lesser amounts.

I asked the dealership to let me return the car, and they said no. They offered to do an exchange. We are exploring that option as of now. Otherwise, I have to go through the Service Department and the manufacturer. Accepting this offer means I risk getting another Jeep with even more problems! However, if there are recurring issues, then I will be forced to join a class action lawsuit.

Update from Feb 2, 2016: New year, same ol leak. After Blizzard Jonas came through and the snow started to melt, water started to leak into the driver's side floor again. Carpet stain in the same place. I believe weather plays a role. Last year we had several days of sleet and ice. i'm guessing; I really don't know. All I know is that I have a leak in a new car, and that should not be happening, not once not twice. But my theory is that ice forms and clogs up the drain, then eventually things melt and water drains in the wrong places. I was pretty sure last winter water continued to drain improperly, but the dealership denied it. Then the weather changed. Last summer, the carpet seemed to stay dry. So is this a recurring seasonal problem that will happen after bad weather? Certainly the problem was not fixed the first time.
