CarComplaints.com Notes: There's no way around it, the Cherokee's transmission is junk. There's no other explanation for why a vehicle, usually with under 40,000 miles, would have so many complaints

Since the beginning in august 2014 transmission never felt right. Dealer stated that they couldn't fix it and it would eventually work itself out..fast forward to august 2016....transmission starts failing by shifting into neutral or "safe mode". Whatever that is. Dealer reset and applies all known software updates. Vehicle operates okay until early September. At least 4-5 times within a week transmission fails again leaving me stranded in the middle of the road until I could get it moving again by putting into park, turning off and restarting etc. dealer is unable to fix it and Chrysler says they don't have a part to fix it. It's now been sitting in my garage for 5 weeks as it's too dangerous to drive. Chrysler is paying for rental now but offers no timeframe. I've now put out over $1000 for rental which will probably take them forever to reimburse.
