Cherokee Trailhawk 2.4L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 48,200 miles

This is my third Jeep Cherokee. My last one was a 2000 Cherokee Sport (Transmission failed 164000 mi). Ironically, it appears that many of the suspension issues I had with my 2000 at 70,000mi, carried over into my 2014 Trailhawk much sooner and are nearly identical (i.e. Brakes Suspension and Rotors). The brake rotors in my Trailhawk warped at about 15000 miles or so, and I had to replace the struts and stabilizer links at 48,200 mi. (Never was off road) My 2000 did not require this service until it had 100000+miles on it.

It is my belief, that the above mentioned recurrent issues, speak directly to poor engineering and quality management at FCA. I have been a loyal Jeep Cherokee owner for more than 28 years, but the quality of engineering that exist in Honda's,Toyota's and Nissan's are appearing more and more attractive.

Cherokee Trailhawk 3.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,000 miles

The dealership replaced the whole front knuckle assembly and the issue is still occurring. They cannot figure it out and I've now lost over 4 days of work from this issue. That's 600 dollars in lost income. I had to again fight with the warranty company and dealership to try and fix this issue.

Cherokee Latitude 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8 miles

Road tested car on dealer track...no bumps so problem wasn't noticed immediately. Upon driving home every little bump especially at speeds below 20 mph were definitely noisy and noticeable. I could not take the car in immediately because I went out of town. For three weeks...relative who drove me to the airport noticed the prob immediately when driving it back to my house.

Car was taken in on August 14, the prob was diagnosed as 'front strut and sway bar has too much play...parts ordered'. The parts came in and nobody from parts nor serviced notified me...I had to call and find out what was going on...they wouldn't give me a quick appt. because 'they are jammed, Holiday weekend blah blah.." Took it in waited 5 hours, finally asked when car would be finished...car appears out of nowhere, 'they were just finishing it up'. They replaced right strut and other parts I wasn't informed of but will get a detailed list if this car goes to Lemon Law status. Apparently ANOTHER diagnoses ...Engineer from Chrysler happened to be there... More parts ordered, another 3 day wait, this time they notified me the parts were in but they forgot to log in my appt., that service scheduled... I get there at 7am like I was told and NO appt ...again, I AM at fault!!

They 'replace lower control arm..bushing worn..' I'm thinking how could a bushing be worn right from the get go? It's been two weeks since the car was 'fixed' ...it still seems to be taking the bumps hard...I had a Jeep Liberty that I traded in that was a 2006 and it drove smoother than this car... Got my fingers crossed on this repair.. Oh yeah, Engineer said they yavent had any similiar probs like this..that this was a first... I plan to check that out. Thank God for a site like this where similar probs can be checked out and documented thoroughly instead of having to believe dealer double --talk or worse total non-answers to your queries.
