Cherokee

Transmission skips gears and sometimes is extremely slow to start getting the car going (acceleration) (every road including when you are stationary. The body of the car continuously shakes if you are driving on a smooth road (like you can hear the body of the car (highway, city, straight and turning) when backing up, the car will break immediatley if there is nothing in the way causing a serious safety hazard. (backing up, or driving in the city it will break and I can't override the system making it very easy for someone to rear end you) this vehicle needs to be deemed unsafe to drive and recalled.

I have had my vehicle in every 5000 miles complaining of "hard" transmission shifts, and the vehicle lunging forward when applying brakes to stop the vehicle. Transmission does not react when you are at a stop and apply the gas, motor on the vehicle will rev up and then eventually the transmission will kick in. I have had the vehicle into (3) different mopar dealers and all of them give me some song and dance about "updates" the updates are done and the vehicle still does not shift correctly. This vehicle is going to kill someone because of the transmission lunging forward when you are coming to a stop.

Within days I noticed issues with the transmission. 1st, 2nd, & 3rd gear can be very jerky.sometimes 1st gear holds 5-8 seconds before shifting. Some jerking is violent. Also declining steep highway mountain roads is an issue at times. When braking at start of decline RPM's jump by 2000 rpms & car seems to thrust forward. It's like it doesn't know what to do. It is very unsettling

I was driving on a highway. I made a complete stop at the traffic light when red. On green traffic signal, the car placed itself into no motion. The car activated the following warning lights: Parking brake, service engine, stability control, and the monitor displayed service transmission. This problem has been repetitive along with a cat purr during acceleration since first day of new purchase.

The car fails to accelerate while driving. It will downshift hard and then feel as if I am gliding along. Warning lights have come on while driving and then go off when pull over to stop. It has totally stopped working on two occasions-no power-then magically starts again. The transmission has already been replaced once and it still has the same problems. It has become a safety issue as I never know if it will accelerate in traffic. The dealer has been told several times. Now there is a recall and the remedy is not yet available. It is very scary to drive.

Car will slip into neutral with no warning and the engine goes into idle. This has happened six times including while exiting the freeway almost causing me to be rear ended. Jeep is aware of the issue and has issued recall S55. They have no fix and they don't know when one will be available. The mopar support reps agree this is very dangerous but will not provide a loaner or rental because they don't know how long before a fix will be available. This car has become very scary to drive and I am getting no help from the dealer or from Jeep.

After purchasing the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude, I noticed that it had a rough time shifting. The transmission would shift violently from 2nd to 3rd gear and anytime you would stop on an incline. We have had all the necessary recalls done to the vehicle but it has continued to have the same problem. When communicating this issue to the dealership all I get is that we are not used to the 9 gear transmission and we need to get used to it. I will be taking it in for the fourth time to see if they can fix it. On a second note I have also had the vehicle taken in to the shop to see why the vehicle suddenly shuts off. This has also happened to us on several occasions, but when I take it to the dealership they tell me there is nothing wrong. This is a huge safety issue and concerns me. This would be a disaster if it happens to die when I am on the highway. I am very disappointed with this vehicle and more so with the way I am treated when I take it to the dealership. There is something seriously wrong with this vehicle and it needs to be addressed before people get injured.

On Wednesday morning, August 24th, 2016, my wife was driving our 2014 Jeep Cherokee latitude in traffic when for an unknown reason the vehicle stopped dead, no warning, no coasting to a stop, an immediate very abrupt stop. The steering wheel locked up, the front wheel drive system locked up, the vehicle was unresponsive to any driver commands. My wife had to seek assistance in moving the vehicle to a safe location out of the traffic lanes. We seriously believe that this unintended and uncontrollable vehicle action is a safety issue inherent within this model of 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Upon diagnosis by the local fca dealer, we were informed that the vehicles oem battery failed the load test and would be replaced under the Jeep factory warranty, battery part number bb94R750-aa. The dealers service representatives seemed to be unconcerned with what in our opinion is a serious design flaw with this vehicle. The vehicle has received 3 previous software updates under factory warranty due to safety recalls.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 35 mph, "service transmission" was displayed across the message board. In addition, the accelerator pedal was depressed, but the vehicle failed to accelerate. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was determined that an update needed to be performed. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train), but the part for the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 37,000. Main issue is with the nine speed transmission on our 2014 Cherokee. We have had issues with this transmission from the day w bought car. Initially there were the bumps, bangs, knocks and hard erratic shifting both up and down shifting. Now with 20,000+ miles, and many-many trips to dealer we are still having to deal with a situation in which the transmission has been "flashed" to remove second gear on downshift, thus hanging up in third, and causing vehicle to almost stall out when trying to accelerate from a slow, non-stopping speed. This has created some gut wrenching as well situations. The only way I have found to overcome this problem is to manually shift into second gear - - - and this is supposed to be an automatic transmission. My wife generally uses this car and does not really understand the "manual shifting part". hopefully, she won't get injured or worse in this thing!!! this needs to be fixed!!!!!
