While driving and coming to a stop, the transmission does not fully downshift automatically. Usually will only downshift automatically to 3rd gear. I don't realize the improper downshift until I accelerate and realize I am not in 1st gear. I've learned to perform a manual downshift after coming to a stop. Also, when in 1st gear and begin a slow start, to where the vehicle then shifts into 2nd gear, and then cruise at a constant speed that does not require shifting into 3rd, but then when I do begin to accelerate, there is a loud "clunk" that sounds and feels as if I was rear ended.

PTU identified under code C14A7-97. This part is a known problem with a large recall already completed but for some reason, this particular VIN doesn-??t fall within the recall scope. Called several dealerships to ask about recall work and all indicate this VIN isn-??t covered. -??Service 4 Wheel Drive-?? light is intermittent.

My vehicle drives about 30 miles before an alert will appear saying to service transmission. Along with the check engine light coming on. Vehicle will not accelerate and on hills will begin to roll backwards. When this happens the vehicle must be parked for at least 15 minutes and then on startup all codes will reset and return back to its normal operating. Took to dealership several times with error code P1DA9 and there was nothing that could be fixed.

the Vehicle has a lot of issues primarily involving the Transmission. The transmission does not shift correctly. The automatic shifting is very erratic. Shift very low sometimes at 2000RPM, and then other times a very high at over 5500RPM. During acceleration, it makes a grinding noise and a very rough shift which can pretty much push you forward from your seat. I took the Vehicle to be serviced several times while still under warranty to the Manhattan Jeep Service Center and every single time they said the computer needed to be updated, and after a few miles, it would go back to doing the same thing, rough shifting.

Vehicle was not included on 20v343 recall for PTU failure but had said failure. As described in the recall vehicle lost all power and forced to stop on interstate. Got out of vehicle and it started to roll away. No injuries no damage, I was able to stop it. The recall is a joke, just a computer update which applies the parking brake if PRU fails, never addressed the real problem, PTU input shaft failure. When I called FCA they said my vehicle didn-??t come under the recall, so never had computer update, because of that I lost all power on interstate (unsafe), started to roll away ( very unsafe) and FCA told the to file a complaint. Thank you The consumer stated another recall, FCA 45A, for the exact same problem was issued, and expanded the covered vehicles, but again his was not covered.

The PTU failed while driving on the highway. Vehicle would not stop moving when placed in park. The loss of power put my kids, wife, and I at risk of possible death if an accident had occurred. Luckily I was able to maneuver the vehicle through three lanes of heavy traffic to pull off the highway before the car completely came to a stop. Once stopped when placed in park I went to step out of the vehicle to assess the situation to only put my family at risk again because the vehicle started rolling away. There was absolutely no warning and no warning after the fact either. The check engine or transmission light never appeared before or after. The problem has been diagnosed by a Jeep Dealer. How my vehicle doesn't fit in the W47 recall for this very issue baffles me. This issue fit that recall of the same year, make, and model to a t.

Beginning of this year vehicle was taken into mechanic for issues. It had rear differential, exhaust and motor mounts all repaired/replaced! The vehicle still had alot of vibration and just 3 weeks ago wouldn't start! Was towed to dealership since my machanic couldn't work on code issues that was code that came up on Diagnostic machine! Was told by dealership today that the pcm, fuel pump and battery are all faulty! There were multiple recalls since 2020 for the pcm, fuel and electrical the 2014-2020 jeep cherokees. It was taken in for the two recalls we received and wasn't repaired, was just looked at! Now we are having more issues with the vehicle! I have reported this to Chrysler, they are supposed to return my call after making claim and speaking to dealership! This vehicle has had a new engine and transmission put in by dealership in 2016 under warranty. We spent over $3000 in repairs since then to the rear differential, exhaust and engine mounts! Was told this new repair will be another $3000 for the fuel pump, pcm, and battery!

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated upon making a turn from a complete stop, he heard an abnormal clunking sound coming from the front driver's side tire. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue driving; however, the failure reoccurred while making turns from a complete stop. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the bolts that held the transfer case to the power transfer unit had detached, causing the transfer case to fracture. The dealer diagnosed that the transfer case needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that an unknown TSB was associated with the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not assist as the vehicle was out of warranty. The failure mileage was approximately 121,014.

The contact owns 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that after refueling, while driving 5-10 MPH, the vehicle shut off inadvertently. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred several times while driving after refueling the vehicle. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the powertrain control module indicated a catalytic convertor failure due to the inner part of the catalytic converter being missing. The catalytic converter was replaced; however, while driving after refueling, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle hesitated to respond and made an abnormally loud sound. The contact turned off and restarted the vehicle. The contact was able to continue driving. The contact became aware of Chrysler Campaign Number (Powertrain Control Module). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer for a software update. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who completed the software update; however, the check engine warning light illuminated a year and three months later. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 116,245.

We purchased this vehicle in 6/2020. Last year had to replace the fuel system because of the vehicle randomly stalling after filling up the tank. This happened randomly so it could have caused a life threatening situation. The cause of this stalling is fuel getting into the EVAP system, and requires replacing the fuel pump and evaporative charcoal canister to rectify. No recall on this even though numerous complaints, it costed us $1700. We now have been having issues of the vehicle hesitating when pulling into traffic and issues with the automatic gear shifting randomly since about 70,000 miles on the car. Recently it got so bad the vehicle would slow down while pressing on the accelerator. We took it into the dealership and they were able to uncover a transmission issue even though there were no warning lights or system warnings. If we didn-??t take it in it could have caused a serious injury and accident. There are recalls on more expensive and newer models of this same model 9 speed transmissions but all Chrysler is doing for this model is doing a cheap software update that has NOTHING to do with the issue many cars are having. The below article explains the issues that Chrysler is not helping customers out at all, just putting peoples life-??s in jeopardy to avoid paying for the transmission recall on all 2014 Jeep Cherokee vehicles even though it is a MAJOR safety risk. https://www.vehiclehistory.com/articles/2014-jeep-cherokees-problems-and-recalls-cover-powertrain-failures-cruise-control-malfunctions-and-faulty-airbags I am attaching their response which basically says sorry, Chrysler doesn-??t care if the vehicle is unsafe and we don-??t care how much money it is costing our customers to make it safe because Chrysler is making money off those repairs.
