This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving 65 mph driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor, causing the vehicle to hit a pole and role three times. Vehicle landed upside down on an embankment. Upon impact, the airbags did not deploy. The driver sustained back and neck injuries, and was transported by ambulance to hospital.
I have been concerned about the braking system as the shoes were cracked and needed to be replaced at 5745 miles. At 12503 miles the rotors needed to be resurfaced. Now at 15, 200 miles I still feel a vibration upon applying the brakes and the service department has been very patronizing. They state it's my tires. The Goodyear tire dealer stated that if there is vibration upon applying the brakes it is not the tires but it is the brakes. The service department at action motors has been stalling me so that the car reaches 18000 miles and will be ineligible for the lemon law return. I believe there are other Jeep owners with the same problem. I've spoken to several Jeep owners and they stated they had the same problem.. unfortunately I did not get anyone's names and addresses but I believe that the NHTSA should investigate all the service records of the Jeep Cherokee to ascertain how many persons had problems with the braking system. Thank you rosalie cicogna.
@ 3000 miles car shudders when braking, told operating to factory specs. Independent mechanic said no, dealer turned rotors, @ 7500 problem recurred, @ 11,000 other dealer replaced rotors as originals were too warped to machine, @ 15,000 same problem, @ 18,000 dealer again machined rotors as a "goodwill service. "
