2000 Jeep Cherokee..4.0..6 cylinder in-line motor. 77,000 miles serviced as instructed since new. Brought Jeep to premier Jeep sandwich MA and was told I had a cracked cylinder head. Cost to repair $3,200. ( w/ water pump & thermostat). Jeep has never overheated. There was no warning-the car was running fine. Googled this motor and was overwhelmed with identical problems -50 on one site...all were 2000 Jeep 4.0 6cyl motors.
While insured was traveling North on central started to see smoke and pulled over, vehicle caught on fire, insured stated that fire originated within the engine compartment from the ignition of transmission fluid which expelled from the transmission cooler hose onto hot surfaces of the exhaust system. Claim number 13-7494-462.
While driving insured noticed vehicle was idling rough, insured parked the vehicle and saw steam was coming out and then vehicle caught on fire. Claim number 52-2478-631.
While driving, consumer noticed vehicle was idling rough, consumer parked vehicle and noticed steam coming out of the front, vehicle caught on fire in the engine compartment, claim 52-2478-631.
Insured parked vehicle and went into school, about 15 minutes later he was informed his vehicle was on fire, the fire started from a fuel leak in the engine compartment. Claim number 52-2453-799.
