After the dealer fixed the problem for the recall on the airbag module problem, the airbag light stays on and gauges and odometer work intermittently. The gauges are not working 80% of the time. It does not register mileage and I cannot tell if vehicle is overheating. Jeep refused to take responsibility for this and it was not happening before the recall repair.

I find that taking apart the dash, cleaning all contacts and greasing with dialectic grease seems to u elp a bit. I also discovered that when I turn defroster on with the fan on #4, and use the rear window wiper (squirting the wiper fluid) makes the gauges work for a few minutes. By gauges, I mean the tach, the speedometer, fuel, oil pressure, battery and temp gauges. The odometer lights up but does not register miles. The light for the emergency brakes works when the brake is on.

It is July 28th, 2015 as I write this. This Jeep, which is in great condition, has been to mechanics many times for this problem with no results. Many of this model jeep have this same problem. It is obvious that this is a craftsmen ship problem. We need to get together and make jeep fix this! There are other problems which I think are related - like my cruise control will not work and my side mirror I rs will not m I very or heat up, my backup ligh r so don't come on while in reverse. The gauges are good - mechanic ran electricity through them and they work fine.

This is happening with my 4wd jeep, my air bag light comes on and then all my gauges die, and I believe I'm coming close to finding the root of the problem as each time my gauges die out i start to have problems with the ignition. It could be an open wire causing the battery to drain?

I will note that back in october 2009 her battery finally died and just before passing the gauges kept dieing out more and more, once the battery was replaced the gauges stopped dieing out less and less to the point i can say now that it hasn't happened since december 2009.

I own 2 jeep cherokees and my 2 wd jeep's gas gauge is the only one that dies out, it's rare and doesn't seem to be related to anything, however i did add a complaint about my 4wd jeep she seems to have alot more problems with the dash.

Every once in a while when driving the airbag light turns on and the gauges do not work. When this happens the mileage does not record. We found out that by hitting the horn lightly two times the gauges will work again. Not a big deal, but annoying.

The gauges on the dashboard sometimes don't work. It started with just the gas gauge showing empty even with gas and now every now and again none of them work.
