This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Rust due to A/C water leaks and lack of a heat shield over the converter will cause rust in the passenger floor pan and the frame member, causing a comprise in safety.
Corrosion to floor pans on more than one 1995 Jeep Cherokee due to water leaks. The floor pans in these Jeep are completly rusted away on both sides of the frame rail. The fact is that there are hundereds of Cherokee out there with this rust and in the event of a crash the structure of the unitiezed body will not be as ridged because the floor is basically separated from the frame. Obviosuly some corrosion might be expected over a 5 year period but due to excessive moisture leaks and the heat/cool cycle of the catalytic converter and exhaust under the passenger side floor pan the corossion on the passenger side in even worse.
