I have two doors that are breaking from the frame at the hinge, and no one will help me because I am a third owner, which was never told to me when I bought the vehicle, and I have two children in my vehicle and one of the doors affected is next to my five month old. These doors are at there last ends, which we where never told of or shown when purchasing this vehicle. I do not have the money to fix this, and I can't afford to leave my vehical sitting until it gets fixed. I have one vehical in my family to get us all to work and daycare. I thought that it would be a safe vehical, but as you can see. No one is willing to keep me and my family safe.
Structure, door : both doors have cracked welds where top & bottom hinges attach to chassis. Engine : bolts attaching right side motor mounts to engine sheared off (dealer implied factory support, demanded payment after work completed). Brakes disc : brake rotors rusted out well before 3 year, 36,000 warranty, dealer denied coverage. Brake rotors later subject to inspection & replace as needed recall, except owner repairs prior to recall not covered!
This problem seems to be common to this vehicle. I have spoken with other Jeep owners and found that several of their vehicles have the same situation as I have.
1) the driver side door is not closing completely. Upon a visual inspection I noticed that the hinge weld has started to fail. I have not taken any corrective action with this problem. I noticed that there has been an investigation with this same problem. 2) my wife was involved in an accident and the airbag did not deploy. The vehicle that she was driving was hit in the rear by another Jeep Cherokee travelling at approximately 30 mph. The other vehicle Jeep Cherokee involved did not deploy it's airbag either. The damage to our Jeep Cherokee was approx $3,000 to repair. I feel that the damage was sufficient enough to warrant the air bags deployment. If there are any further questions please contact me.
Driver's side door fell off. The carter pin holding "L" brace, popped out. The welds on door were broken. The electrical lights (outside) stays on even after key is removed & vehicle turned off. Some electrical wires found melted together.
Failed upper weld on driver's side, causing door to hang and close improperly (and incompletely). Dealer contacted manufacturer who wouldn't do anything because they said it was out of warranty.
While getting into vehicle, noticed that when shutting driver's door, its off center or off track; when door is completely shut, there is a gap between frame of vehicle & doorway that a light shines completely through it. Will be taken vehicle to dealer.
