The contact owns a 2007 Jaguar X-type. The contact was driving when the vehicle accelerated unexpectedly. At the time of the failure, the RPM's dramatically increase, but the warning indicators were not illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had to place the vehicle into neutral to prevent it from moving. The risk of a serious crash was increased. The manufacturer stated that the cause of the failure was unknown and there was no current remedy. The failure and current mileages were 32,390. Updated 3/19/09 the incident also occurred while stopped with the brakes applied. Updated 03/26/09.
