This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I bought the 2004 Jaguar X-type with approx 48,000 miles. The entire time I've owned the car, the front passenger airbag light will turn on and off when an adult weighing less than 135lbs sits in the front seat. You can move and figet, and the "airbag off" life will turn off, only to intermittently turn on. This is a huge safety issue, as a lightweight adult in the front seat may not have airbag protection in a crash. Jaguar said there was nothing wrong with the seat and sensor, and to adjust the seat differently until the "airbag off" life goes off. The point is that there is no guarantee that putting the seat in any particular position will result in a safe airbag deployment for a light weight adult. Upon research, my X-type isn't the only one with this problem. If the airbag doesn't deploy, someone could be killed.
