Parking brake fault/E-brake module...my vehicle was stationary and my attempt to start the vehicle I was unable to move it out of gear. I took it to the dealership and they offered to repair or replace the E brake module. My furher reserach indicatedt that this is an existing problem with different years of this model car that have been previously been recalled by the car manufacture. The dealer and the manufacture appears to be aware of this pre-existing problem with these cars and have fail to correct or address the problem.

I purchased this 2007 Jaguar S-type in Nov 2013. Approximately 1 month ago I started having an issue with the electronic parking brake not releasing itself when the car was shifted out of the "park" position. It takes a good 15-20 minutes of driving the vehicle and applying the brakes several times before the electronic parking brake will disengage itself. It has gotten to the point now that the brake pads have worn to the point of initial grinding noise being heard, which is a clear indicator of excessive wear. I did some research online a couple of nights ago, so as to confirm if there have been any Jaguar S-type "recalls" for this type of problem, and in fact found that there have been many reported instances of them for this exact problem. In fact, the problem can escalate itself if the electronic parking brake were to engage itself on its own while the car is in motion, causing the rear brakes/tires to lock up.....an obvious safety issue. The recall numbers are R166 and R167, but in contacting Jaguar corporate customer service, as well as a local Jaguar service dealership, I was informed that while my issue appears to be mirroring these prior recalls, there is not an actual recall currently "open" on the 2007 Jaguar S-type model year vehicle. This to me seems ridiculous. What should it matter what the manufactured year of the vehicle is" if the problem is the same problem as has occurred on prior year models, why wouldn't the existing recall/S simply be expanded to include the additional model year/S, 2007 in this case" any assistance/direction in regards to having this matter addressed that could possibly be sent my way would be greatly appreciated.
