My 2018 Jaguar E-Pace is a very dangerous vehicle to drive. The engine suddenly loses power, the check engine light illuminates and the very will not respond to my pushing the accelerator. This happened on a major California freeway (I-5) in 8 lanes of traffic! I could not easily pull to the side of the road, and both trucks and cars were slamming on their brakes as I could only reach a speed of 30 mph.
I went to the nearest Jaguar dealership and they used a device to determine the fault code and called Jaguar. Jaguar IS AWARE of this problem, and the dealership told me that there was nothing they could do until Jaguar finished designing and testing a "fix" for this condition. I have literally parked this vehicle for fear of the lives of my family. I continue to pay for an unsafe vehicle that I cannot drive. Contacted Jaguar Customer Relations and asked that they buy back/replace this vehicle. They appeared to be unaware and in disbelief of my story (subsequently, The Detroit Free Press Automotive Writer, Mark Phelan, reviewed a Jaguar E-Pace and had an almost identical experience). Again, the dealer stated there was nothing they could do, but Jaguar acted as if this was just a simple problem and told me to return to the dealership, have a service rep or technician ride along with me as I try to "replicate the problem for them."
In no terms do I want to replicate a vehicle losing power (from 70mph to 30mph) on ANY freeway. The most important point... Jaguar is quietly aware of this problem and it is a safety issue that must be addressed. I cannot drive this vehicle due to fear of this condition repeating.
