Our Trooper always started great, even in extreme cold (-20°F). One day it started taking a lot longer to start - it would sputter & die for a couple minutes & then finally start. Turns out the choke mechanism had gotten a little sticky & it wasn't fully shutting off the air. A little WD40 did the trick. All you have to do is unscrew the wingnut that holds the carburetor cover on, take the cover off & the thing that flips open & shut in the middle is the choke.
