The frame rusted and broke in several places .Since the frame was made from recycled steel and contained impurities it was porous and could not be welded and fixed. The car had to be taken off the road because it was unsafe to drive and was scrapped. The body, 4 wheel drive drivetrain and engine were fine and the vehicle was driven daily up until 9/5/11.
Contacted Isuzu Motors America, LLC , BBB and filed with US Department of Transportation , NHTSA , Office Defect Investigation, Washington , DC ( ODI # 10381408 ) and was totally blown off.
My beef to Isuzu , BBB and the Feds was that even though the vehicle was properly maintained since new , because of a manufacturing defect, it had to be prematurely disposed of since it was unsafe to drive and could not be repaired. There was nothing I could have done to prevent this and there were no instructions in the owner's manual or bulletins from the manufacturer alerting me of this problem or what actions I could have taken to prevent it.
I asked that I be compensated for it's Bluebook value , which at the time was about $2,500 to $4000 . Needless to say my request was turned down.
