Driver side front brake pads sheared clear of the clips, jammed the rotor to where it could not be turned by hand, broke the seals on the caliper pistons releasing brake fluid. Result was a driver side tire that was locked up almost to the point of skidding and no brakes. The vehicle traveled less than 2 miles from the time the problem was first noticed (a strange sound) to the point at which there were no brakes. Also, no brake warning light was ever seen by the driver. Topped off the brake reservoir, pumped the brakes about 6 times until reservoir was back down to "add" and still no brake warning light visible on the dash.
