2000 Isuzu Rodeo hard to start and will stall at red lights or going down the road, no one can find out why.

The oil was not leaking nor mixing with any other fluids but would burn off when transferred through the cylinders. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic who stated that the failure could potentially cause the engine to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The engine later failed. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 123,000.

Our 2000 Isuzu Rodeo 3.5 L V6 habitually burns oil. Has done so for years have found hundreds of similar posts about the same thing. Engine just blew up due to the engine being low on oil. Modest estimates put repair bills in the $4000-$5000 range (more than the car is worth). Isuzu acknowledges that a design flaw is the root cause of the issue and has released a "service bulletin" and will repair the problem if under warranty but has failed to release a full recall to help those of us who are out of warranty.

Isuzu stated that the thermostat, water pump, and oil seals needed to be replaced at the cost of $1,090. While idling at a stop sign, the vehicle shut down and would not restart. The vehicle had to be towed. Currently, the vehicle will not start and the diagnosis was that the trolley failed and caused the timing chain to come off the engine. The failure caused the engine to expand. The contact was informed that his VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 01I002000 (engine and engine cooling:engine). The current and failure mileages were 77,000.

It had been less than 5000 miles since the last oil change. The truck started making a really loud clicking noise, then stalled minutes later. A rod was thrown through the block, and 2 pistons were destroyed. It cost about $6000, which the warranty company only paid half. They replaced it with a used engine, and I am already having problems with oil consumption.

While stopping at a stop light the vehicle began to hesitate as if it were going to stall. The fire was first noticed on the front passenger side. Based on the fire departments investigation the fire started in the engine compartment. However, an arson investigator was contacted who determined the fire was electrical and started in an electrical box located near the battery. The vehicle was totaled as a result of the incident. I own a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo and have never received any information about recalls on my vehicle. I was informed that a recent recall was announced in reference to the braking system. Also, I found on the internet, information about the following recalls: Air bags frontal - recall # 02V213000 - date of recall: 08/09/02 engine & engine cooling - recall # 01I002000 - date of recall: 06/05/01 air bags frontal - recall # 01V055000 - date of recall: 02/28/01 I never received any recall notices and feel that since my vehicle has not been checked for the above problems, it may be unsafe. Please advise as to what I should do next.

Vehicle has been to the dealer on four separate occasions, and the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem each time.
