Oem tires wear out quickly, my wife and I owned 2 of these vehicles. One with yokohamas one with goodyears. Uneven tread wear resultin in tire cupping and very rough ride. Her Rodeo was a ls 4WD mine is a 2wd base model. I look at tires on other Rodeos I come across in parking lots and all show signs of uneven wear. Also ABS system is junk. Any stop not executed on even level pavement results in loud grinding noise and very long braking distances. This is obviously a major problem with these vehicles and I consider it very dangerous. It's almost as if the "computer" gets confused and resets during anything other than ideal braking conditions. Please investigate this issue further! my brakes just failed the other day as I was backing up and I hit another car.

I have had this truck for just over a year now. I have had issues from day one. There has been a constant shimmy in the front end. Tires balanced, rebalanced and balanced again. This did not solve the problem. The tire manufacture recommends 30 psi in the tires. The Isuzu people ask for 26 psi...at this pressure the vibration get worse...the tires squeal and the truck feels out of control if on a rough road. The truck is under sprung and if the tires are inflated to 30 psi is is almost undrivable. Makes me think of the Ford/Firestone issue. Might be a problem. The tires wear too quickly...balanced, aligned no help. Dealer tells me this is how the truck is. The other major issue is the oil use...this truck will use, lose somewhere, 1 qt per 500 miles or so. Dealer tells me to check the oil level at every fuel-up....I feel this is bull. Purchased a new truck so I would do regular scheduled maintence. My biggest concern is the tires and lack of control. I can get nowhere to solve my problems with Isuzu. (tiresize: 235-75-R15)( dot number: Tire size: 235-75-R15 )

Original equipment on 1999, Isuzu Rodeo with 9000 miles, yokohama geolander ht tires size 23575R15. All 4 tires have developed cracks on outside of edge and inside near the bead, which looked like tread separation. Also, like dry rot cracks. All 5 tires were replaced by sears.

Repeated occurrences of antilock braking system taking over control of brakes while braking at low speed. Problem is most pronounced when roads are wet or when traveling over bumpy surface with moderate brake pressure applied. First occurrence was two months after vehicle was purchased while driving on wet roads. Vehicle approached intersection with railroad crossing. Moderate braking pressure caused antilock brakes to take over just as vehicle was bumping over railroad tracks. Vehicle was unable to stop. Luckily, no other vehicle was at intersection at the time. Vehicle ended up completely inside intersection. Driver backed up to behind painted lines and was very startled as to action of braking system. Problem occurred again on wet road at smooth intersection. Assumed oil on roadway was cause of antilock brake engagement and driver reported inability to stop vehicle for unusually long period at low speed. Third incident was while pulling trailer with 2000 lb load. While pulling up to residence, right front tire rolled into gutter with water. Antilock brakes activated and vehicle "slid" forward approximately 10 feet. Vehicle was only traveling about 5mph. Last occurrance involved wet pavement and resulted in antilock brakes engaging at low vehicle speed (approximately 20 mph) while slowing for intersection. Vehicle was unable to stop. Driver tried to avoid accident by changing lane to right but was struck by vehicle on right and was pushed back into original lane. Collision occurred at approximately 10 mph. Vehicle was immediately brought to Isuzu dealership for brake check. Dealer reported tires inflated to 33 lbs instead of 26/28 according to rating on door. Tires rated at 35 lbs max. Dealer acted unaware of any reports of antilock brake problems with other customers, I.e. acted "stupid" especially when told that brake failure resulted in accident. Can duplicate failure repeatedly. Request telephone conversation.
