As I was attempting to merge onto a highway exit ramp, I applied the brakes with what was typical force for such conditions. The road was wet and as I was braking, the vehicle went over an expansion joint in the overpass of the road. The brake pedal went to the floor, the wheels locked up, and the vehicle skidded, using excessive braking distance, thus resulting in a low-speed rear-end accident with the vehicle in front of me. Little damage was done to the other vehicle; however, the front bumper of my vehicle, a 1999 Isuzu Rodeo was pushed back. I now find out that Isuzu has issued a safety recall for the ABS, which is responsible for this accident and the resulting damage to my vehicle. The damage has never been repaired. I would like Isuzu, as a part of its recall campaign to repair the damage to the front bumper, free of charge.

In December 2002, I had the ABS module replaced due to the unit 'being fried' according to the mechanic. One year later, the ABS warning light illuminated and there is sporatic braking slippage especially braking down hill. Unfortunately, the dealer indicated that there is a $100 diagnostic test that needs to be done to identify the problem before looking at anything. After diagnostic test, the dealer states there is a problem with the rear sensor (another $160 to fix). The 99 Isuzu Rodeo only has 40,000 miles at this point and has two problems with the ABS system. The dealer did a VIN search and my car was not part of the recall.

I have a 99 Isuzu Rodeo with about 37,500 miles. About 2 weeks ago (early January 2003), I started up the Rodeo and heard a very loud sound coming from under the hood, which continued even when I turned off the ignition and removed the keys. The only way to stop the sound was to unplug the ABS fuse. When I took it to the dealership, they said the ABS control module had to be replaced (about a $500 repair.) from my internet research, this is a frequent problem with mid- to late-90S Rodeos.
