I was driving home from work at about 5:15 p.m. on the interstate and the whole right lane came to a complete stop as did I. We sat there for a few seconds and rolled forward a few feet and stopped again. I had a semi from Georgia in front of me. All of a sudden my brakes gave out and the car lunged forward at a fast speed. I did not have my foot anywhere near the accelerator only on the brake. I then put both feet on the brake and held on hard and hit the center of the semi in front of me. I felt I had no other choice at the time. It all happened so fast that I didn't have time to think about the emergency brake or to just shut the car off. I hit the semi going about 10 to 15 miles per hour. It didn't do any damage to the semi but smashed in my front fender and the hood of the car. After telling the insurance company of the problems that were also listed on the internet that we found the night of the accident, the next morning my car was classified as a total loss. I couldn't believe this could not be fixed. No one believed me and my story of how it happened until they saw it on this site. I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. It could have been worse if there had been a car in front of me with children in it.
