The contact owns a 2002 Hyundai XG350. The contact stated that the check engine light began to illuminate on the instrument panel while going through an automated car wash. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the fuel tank canister needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure had since recurred twice. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer on each occasion where it was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was unknown. Updated 08/31/11 the dealer replaced several components to rectify the engine light problem, but to no avail. The consumer also stated the ABS, tcb and air bag lights illuminated. The contact owns a 2002 Hyundai XG350. While the contact was attempting to pull out of a parking spot, he was struck on the passenger side by another vehicle traveling 45 mph. The contact's vehicle was destroyed. None of the air bags deployed. The contact did not notice any differences beforehand. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The current and failure mileages were 77,652. Updated 10/16/08. The consumer had other problems with the vehicle prior to the accident. The check engine light illuminated, the rear view mirror needed to be tightened, the front headlight had condensation. Updated 10/17/08.

The contact has taken the vehicle to the dealer approximately 15 times, but they have been unable to determine the cause of the failures. The dealer reset the code, but that only corrects the failure for approximately a week. The failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 74,000.
