CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2008 Veracruz has a minor trend of complaints where the valve cover leaks oil onto the alternator, causing alternator failure. The problem starts with the battery warning light & typically all the other warning lights coming on in quick succession. Luckily, that problem was covered in a 2014 recall>.
Overall, It's a solid reliable vehicle with no major problems reported.

I purchased a 2008 Hyundai Veracruz in 2014. I was taking a friend home and as I was pulling in all lights lit up and car just shuts off. I couldn't get the car to do anything. I had the car towed. My windshield wipers doesn't work, door handles are all broken, seat belts doesn't work, alternator has been change 3 times due to oil leakage, no radio, the RPM's goes up and down and trunk won't open.
I was driving my kids to school when my wipers stopped working. They were working just fine and then all of a sudden they just stopped working. There was never any signs of the wipers having any problems until they just stopped working that day. Thank god no one was hurt.
