The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Veloster. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost power and would not properly accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact also stated that the speed began to decrease before the engine stalled, the check engine indicator illuminated, and the temperature gauge increased. The vehicle was towed to keith hawthorne Hyundai (4712 wilkerson blvd, gastonia, nc) where it was diagnosed that metal shavings were present inside the engine and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 61,000.
