Bought the car in October at a little under 63,000 miles. Less than 5,000 miles later, the check engine light comes on in my car. It drove just fine, yet had the check engine light on. I was told it was the Canister Purge Valve that needed a software upgrade or it otherwise will not mix the fuel system correctly and will affect MPG. Cost me almost $300.00 - and it’s not a part that’s covered under most warranties and/or any outside extended warranties.
I owned a Kia Spectra 5 hatchback prior to this, which is owned by Hyundai, and that car needed to replace a Canister Close Valve (similar part) at around the same mileage. So it looks like this is a common malfunction for any Kia/Hyundai vehicles and warranties won’t cover it.
