My car hesitated from a stop sign, then launched forward causing it to uncontrollably jump forward very fast. When I went to hit the brakes they failed to active, and had to pull the E brake. The car has had a software update for the tcm on my dct transmission but the problem seems to not be able to be fixed. This is very dangerous, and could cause a major accident or death.

I was driving the car when it started smoking and then shut off while I was driving straight down highway 195 in Texas. The car was towed to europe services in killeen, tx and we were told that the engine is blown out. We are unable to find a new engine anywhere. I looked online and saw that the year, make and model of my car had a recall with premature engine issues.

The contact 's son owned a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. The contact purchased the vehicle used on 06/02/20. A month later the vehicle stalled, while the contact's son was driving home. The vehicle was towed to the dealer (maus Nissan of crystal river 937 S suncoast blvd, homosassa, fl 34448 (352) 592-6287). They found three codes that had to do with the catalytic converter, the fuel injector, and the coils. The vehicle was towed home and the contact's son attempted to fix the vehicle on his own. He applied a fuel injector cleaner and catalytic converter cleaner and the vehicle operated with no problems. The issues occurred again on 09/03/20 when the vehicle started to smoke while travelling at 30 mph. The vehicle was pulled over and the son opened the hood. Smoke came out and then flames burst from the engine. The vehicle was soon engulfed and the entire front of the vehicle was burned down. The flames were put out by the fire department. A police report and a fire report were filed. There were no injuries that required Transport by an ambulance. The vehicle was totaled by the insurance company and the wreckage was towed away. The dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted yet. The failure mileage was 106,000.

Veloster Hyundai's 7-speed dct contains a design defect in the transmission control module (tcm) that causes, among other problems, failure to shift, stalling, delayed acceleration, or loss of power. 'these conditions are hazardous because they severely affect the driver's ability to control the vehicle during normal driving conditions and prevent drivers from accelerating to maintain safe speeds in traffic, '

The vehicle has been in and out of the shop for the last year. The car has significant vibration when turning on my ac and lights. The gas mileage has dropped from 30mpg to 17 mpg. The car lunges forward when taking of and starting. I was involved in a collision where the issues partially caused me to rear end someone. The car was totaled. In the vehicle inspection the insurance company found the frame twisted. The accident was a low speed collision where no one was injured other then myself and the vehicle in front of me a late 90's early 20's Lexus car red in color had little damage. Hyundai is unwilling to help me with the issues prior to the accident. The air bag deployed and I was tseen and reated for chemical burn from the airbag

So when leaving from a complete stop in drive letting off the brake petal, and letting the vehicle start rolling itself in drive will start vibrating and making clunking metal noises. Will keep doing it unless I either do two of the following things step on the accelerator petal, or push on the breaks and come to a complete stop. And when the vehicles front wheels are turned when taking off from a stop it's 2 times worse. It does it about 2-3 times daily. I've taken it to Hyundai dealership to fix under the warranty and they claim that everything is normal. Don't understand how this is possible tho because of the persistent problem I keep facing. Please maybe look into this as something send not right.

While driving home from work, car stalled and would not go over 5 mph. Had vehicle towed to dealership where they diagnosed a failed catalytic converter (19,038 miles). Unit was replaced under warranty. Recently, same exact problem happened again. Driving home from work, stalled, had vehicle towed. Dealership says failed catalytic converter led to lower engine failure. Reported unit under warranty, but would be over a month to get a short block for replacement. After reading about other models with excessive exhaust temps causing failures, I am concerned that this problem is going to reoccur. I have never heard of catalytic converters failing on new cars and certainly not twice with under 30,000 miles on the vehicle. Second failure happened Saturday Feb 16, 2019. Car is still at the dealership.

The contact owns a 2016 Hyundai Veloster. While reversing into the driveway, the vehicle shook and there was an unknown abnormal noise underneath the vehicle. In addition, the front driver's side seat belt failed to retract. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 23,784.

When accelerating from a stop the car hesitates, then jumps forward, that hesitates again before accelerating normally. This is the usual behavior when accelerating from a stop, whether accelerating rapidly or smoothly. The behavior has always been present since the car was new. The dealer claims it is normal behavior but it is a behavior I've never experienced other cars.

When the car is stopped at a light or in traffic with the foot on the break when you release your foot off the break the car lurches forward - must be something with the new dual clutch 7-speed transmission. Please Hyundai fix this before someone gets hurt or killed

Car sometimes accelerates by itself even when off the gas and on the brakes. Lunges in stop and go traffic. Passing gear sometimes revs up to 6500rpm's but stays in the current speed. Sometimes car stays at a certain RPM even if not on the gas and wont slow down. Bad lag and terrible dead spots in acceleration. I feel like transmission is not communicating well with control module and gas pedal position sensor is way off the mark. Car has put me in life threatening situations but Hyundai service says they cant reproduce the problem but only drove it 7 miles. I bought car brand new and just turned 5800 miles but has been back for this problem 4 times now.
