The Hyundai recall doesn't fix the problem, which is the ABS Module leaks brake fluid internally which can catch fire. The claimed "fix" puts in a low current fuse that supposedly electrically will lower the risk of a fire when the ABS leaks brake fluid internally and shorts out the electrical power to the ABS Module. The problem is that the ABS Module can develop an internal leak which causes a short that fries the ABS Module and can cause a fire by igniting the brake fluid. The lower current rated fuse can still cause a fire, so I don't see the NHTSA Recall No. 23V651000 as a real fix. I want a replacement of the brake fluid leak-prone ABS Module in my 2014 Hyundai Veloster Turbo so I can safely use and park my car indoors without the potential of a fire while parked or driving. I have not experienced a fire in the recalled vehicle, but I think I am entitled to a proper "fix". I am an electrical engineer with an MSEE degree and many US patents. I have been greatly inconvenienced by following the recall warning to "park the vehicle outside (outdoors) away from structures". The outside exposure to hot temperatures, harsh sunshine, and salt air degrades the finish and mechanicals of my vehicle by following the recall warning. So Hyundai's faulty ABS Module costs me money (value of the vehicle) besides the risk and inconvenience. Make Hyundai really fix the problem by replacing the ABS Module as a minimum.

There is a current recall since September, 2023, with no remedy to date. In addition, I have driven this vehicle very little after last having my car serviced at the dealership, just over a year now, which seemed to not be sounding right in the engine, so it alarmed me, and all started feeling overwhelming since going to the dealership for repairs. I see there is an engine recall on the 2015 Veloster, though not the 2014? Yet they are claiming that both issues can cause fires. My vehicle has less than 100K miles if I remember correct from when I last looked. it's been months since I've even driven the vehicle, as I've not felt safe or comfortable doing so. My vehicle seems to have a lot of the same symptoms as the 2015 Veloster recall. i have been nervous to take it back to the same dealer, though I've also been too nervous to let just any mechanic look at it. When the dealer last changed my oil, a bunch leaked out in my driveway, and I was told there's a safety overflow. In addition, my oil light came on, and I was simply told they forgot to reset it.

My ac unit switch melted due to the wires getting too hot and causing the unit to no longer work. I believe this is a safety issue due to possible fire with the wires getting burned. After doing some research this is a common issue in my car and I believe hyundai should be required to replace my unit before it causes more damage inside the unit.

I purchased my 2014 Hyundai Veloster as a CPO back in January of 2018 with approximately 37k miles. Currently it has 95,637 miles. Within the first couple months of ownership, I noticed that the vehicle was sporadically acting up during acceleration (specifically when shifting between 2nd and 3rd gear). During this process it acts as if all of its power is shut off momentarily and then comes back on, which can potentially be dangerous when accelerating into high traffic areas, or busy intersections because not only does it lose acceleration power but steering as well. I brought it to the dealership right away, but because it never throws any trouble codes, nor does it happen on command - they cannot pin point the issue. Initially they changed the alternator. The second time, I believe, they changed the knock sensor or the Camshaft position sensor. In short, I-??ve brought it to the dealership several times and have filed numerous complaints to Hyundai Consumer Affairs, but to no avail. Most recently (March 2022), it happened when both of my stepchildren were in the car while we were returning from the beach. I accelerated from a traffic light and was going around a bend when it happened causing me to slam into the curb and caused nearly $1700 in damage, which I had to pay for out of pocket because at this point it is out of Warranty- even though it-??s been an ongoing issue pre-warranty lapse. Then to top it all off, I was leaving work this evening to go to an appointment and all of a sudden it began smoking from underneath the steering column. I quickly pulled into the turning lane and popped the fuse box lid open. Instantly I noticed that a wire harness was on fire, which luckily I was able to blow out after several attempts. I-??m at my wit-??s end with this car, with the dealership, and with Hyundai-??.. I need help and don-??t know what to do!

The ac/heater blower motor controller in this vehicle and every model that shares the same style knob has a serious defect. Along with the fire hazard this presents it also effects the use of defrost which can be a serious issue in some climates and the switch may fail completely rendering the defrost functionally unusable. Attached you will see images of the inside and outside of the switch in question as well as the connector for the switch which have suffered serious heat damage. This is a fire hazard. Hyundai chose to use the switch itself as the current passing conductor instead of a relay as used by most manufacturers. This decision is clearly reflected as a negligent one with regards to the structure of the switch and incorrect gauge of the wiring used for said switch. With normal use in any position on the dial, this issue will cause the wiring of the connector, and the insides of the switch to overheat. This is not a matter of functionality, this is a matter of safety. With these low gauge wires being used for this it poses a serious risk of fire. Please see the attached photos for evidence of the switch and connector deformation caused by overheating. Please bare in mind that the switch components and connector appear to be made of PA6, a glass fiber reinforced nylon which is intended to stand up to a great deal of heat. Additionally the wire wrap (pictured below) meant to protect the wiring on this connector from rattling is made of a cloth/composite material, with the ability to melt and catch fire. This issue is a constant being down to the wiring. In motion, stationary, or otherwise has no bearing so long as the climate controls are being used. Thank you for your time.

I haven't had many troubles with steering like others have however I have had problems where the car doesn't immediately go into gear. I can start the car and it takes up to a minute to go into gear and every once in awhile I have that problem when switching over neutral (ie. Going from park or reverse to drive or vice versa) another problem I'm having troubles with is the electronics. When I go to back up the rear camera appears for 1 or 2 seconds then goes to the radio. Its nearly an everyday thing. Sometime the radio, discs, or media player will play music but will be silenced and I have to change the mode and switch it back before it will play. Has nothing to do with the volume I have tried that. Also recently my clock has started to reset every time I turn the car on. It resets to 11:10. Everything except the clock has been happening for months and I cant get anything done unless I pay. Which I refuse because it shouldn't be my problem.

I purchased my 2014 Veloster turbo right off of the showroom floor. When I was driving home, 90 miles from the dealership, I noticed it was really hard to keep my car straight in the road. I physically have to force my car to stay straight on the straightest highways. I took it to the dealership the next day and it was found to be out of alignment. They aligned it, only to experience the same issue driving back home. I have now had my vehicle in to 3 different Hyundai dealerships and have records of the adjustments. It is still not aligned making it very difficult to drive safely. At 5K miles we were driving on a road trip and had been driving all day. We were getting back on the interstate and my check engine light started flashing and my car started slowing down even though I was trying to accelerate. It cleared up and I drove a few more miles when it acted up again, this at 65 mph. Same issues flashing lights, slowing from 65 to 30 as my car felt it was not getting any power. I was able to report it to my bluelink, although it did not show on their end. This has been checked several times by Hyundai, although they are not able to detect or duplicate the issue. It continues to happen to me. I am to the point where I am frightened to drive it anymore. Not only for my safety but for others as well. I have a total of 7 service records with no answers except, if it happens again come right in and hopefully the computer will tell us. The alignment was done 5 times and took in 6, although it is still all over the road. The answer I get for the alignment now is, " customer may also not be used to electronic steering system". I am a 43 year old man that has been driving for almost 30 years. I have another vehicle with electronic steering that drives straight on the same roads. Thanks for your time...
