The original low profile tires were garbage, they didn't last 20,000 miles - not a big deal. I replaced with high end tires, and made it through two mild winters in New England. With bad weather over the last year or so, I have had 7 tires blow out from hitting small potholes most other cars hardly notice. The cost to date with disposal and realignment fees is $3500 in the last year alone. Apparently there are no other options for tires, only very low profiles that blow out if they even get near a pothole.
I had two, less than a month old, Continental tires blow out at the same time hitting a pothole 2 inches deep last night. I have complained to the dealership, and they keeping tell me I should trade up to a newer version, which has the exact same tire size. I actually love the car, but the tires make the thing a death trap money pit, I spend a bundle of time stranded by the side of the road waiting for tow trucks, missing work, but glad I'm not dead. I'm trading it in for anything but a Hyundai tomorrow, before the car kills me.
Anyone else have a Veloster tire problem with bad roads?
