Every couple of months, I make a 740-mile drive to visit my mother...12 hours behind the wheel. On a long trip, I want cruise control. I also use ezPass to get through tolls. I bought the Tucson new in September 2020, and purchased the ezPass transponder in August 2022, and immediately had problems with the cruise control cutting out at unpredictable intervals at highway speeds. Two Hyundai dealers told me there was nothing wrong, as there are no codes thrown and they could not replicate the problem. It's extremely sporadic; it happened on the last long drive 6 times in 40 miles, then not again for nearly 200 miles! It probably won't happen on a 3-mile spin around the block. Anyway, the latest theory is that the ezPass transponder is interfering with the cruise control. Really? This does not sound plausible to me, but given that the problem started about the same time as I got the ezPass, it could be. I plan to keep the transponder in a Faraday box on the next long drive until I need it, but that's a pain, fiddling around getting it out of the box just before a toll. Anyway, has anyone else had this issue? what did you do besides invest in a Faraday box ($30 or so on Amazon)? Thanks.
