On Saturday, we went to get groceries and meet a friend. When I stopped to wait for traffic before entering the store parking lot, the battery light and oil light came on and the car stalled. I did get it started, so after meeting my friend, we went to the local big box store, where I figured the oil change should be done, as it was close to the mileage threshold. After leaving there, I started on the local interstate acceleration lane, where the car acted like there wasn't enough power. Thankfully that lane is also an off-ramp, so I took the old 2 lane road back home. As we pulled into the driveway, the same issue happened, so I just turned it off, unloaded groceries, and left it.
I contacted the dealership, and they told me that the next available appointment was 2 weeks away. Since we only have one car, that's a major inconvenience for a retired couple. I next contacted the national helpline, where the representative managed to schedule an appointment for November 8 - just days away. AAA took the vehicle to the dealership, so it would be available for the service department. I was surprised to hear from a person at the dealership on Saturday, who told me that the car's engine has to be replaced! He then requested that I send the maintenance records to him, so he could start investigating the warranty claim. At this point, I have to rent a car and wait for the outcome.
