After CAA towed my vehicle from Barrie to the Hyundai Dealership in Orillia on a flatbed tow truck, it was very dark and I had to get my neighbour to drive me there. I had to drive back because she doesn't like to drive in the dark. The vehicle was looked at the next day and I was told that it needed a new engine. I said well it's covered under my extended warranty though. Paul Serafim told me that they will submit it to Hyundai Canada first for authorization and once they authorize it then they'll order a new engine from South Korea.
I asked about a loaner or rental vehicle but he said they didn't have any at the dealership and none at Enterprise rental in Orillia. I explained to Paul that I live in Barrie and work for the school board in Markham and I need a vehicle to commute to work. He did not seem to care or have any solution. I suggested getting a vehicle from Enterprise in Barrie and he said yes, just keep the receipt and he will submit it to Hyundai Canada and they would reimburse me. I called Enterprise in Barrie and explained my situation and they said they had a vehicle that I could rent.
When I went to Enterprise in Barrie the next day, vehicle I was suppose to get was at the airport with the keys locked inside so they brought down a BMW SUV from Orillia and charged me luxury rental fee, but said I would have to deal with Hyundai Canada to cover the cost. I was stuck and given no choice of a Hyundai vehicle so I hoped and prayed that Hyundai Canada would approve the charges for the only vehicle that would get me to my job and not get fired.
In the end it turns out that Hyundai Canada only covered $40 a day which no one indicated to me even after submitting my receipts to Paul Serafim the Service Manager at Hyundai Orillia. Allie Aubly the Branch Retail Manager of Enterprise in Barrie tried at one point to repossess my rental vehicle while still charging my VISA.
In the end I was out of pocket over $5,000.00 for the rental although the engine was covered, I am now disputing these charges and unsuccessfully I might add. Currently writing a letter to the CEO of Hyundai Canada. This dispute has been going on for 4 months and is extremely exhausting and time consuming.
